FREE TO BE ME

FREE TO BE ME

Imagine a story about a woman who is struggling to understand why nothing that used to work works in her life anymore. She feels confused and powerless, and has to face the fact that her “game of life” plan is not working for her. She wonders what she is supposed to do when it feels like everything she has tried has already failed.

I get it! It is easy to get caught up in the frustrations of life and forget that we have the power to change our circumstances. Today I rely on personal awareness that held the key to unlocking the door to a new reality. It astounded me when I became aware of what was really holding me back. It’s been even more astounding to take steps to break free from those limitations and create a new future.

The first step was to let go of my old “playbook”. It was hard for me to even admit, never mind accept, that what had worked in the past was no longer effective. This was a difficult realization for me, but I found myself no longer bound by the limitation of my old way of thinking. It was truly liberating and suddenly I was to living a life where I was free to be me.

At first, I could not figure out what I was doing wrong so I knew I had beliefs influencing me in ways that I was unaware of. When those beliefs emerged, I understood what was actually controlling MY life. I discovered the ways I had fooled myself into believing that assumptions were facts and often used these “presumed facts” to justify my actions and blame other people. This powerful awareness was enough to begin to break my bond with such a resistant way of life and surprisingly, I began to gain more and more control of my own life experience.

The new sense of freedom that came with feeling in control of my own destiny led to a whole new perspective or view of the world. I realized since each of us sees the world from our own unique perspective, we also experience the world differently… a world that is based on our own personal view and built upon personal beliefs… beliefs that we may actually be blind to.

With this knowledge, I became a much more compassionate person. I began learning how to live in a way that honored everyone's personal truth. I loved how this new way of life felt! It meant I did not have to agree with others around me. It freed me from trying to convince others I was right. It meant I could simply enjoy having my own opinion even when it was different from someone else. I have to admit, this old habit can still sneak up on me, especially when I find myself in a new situation and outside of

my comfort zone! When it does, I KNOW, the most helpful thought I can offer myself is, “trust my own intuition and do not seek validation from others.”

I wasn’t very kind to myself most of my life. I walked around believing I never “did enough” to prove I “was enough”. Like many other women, these habits led to a place of utter exhaustion, where I lost complete connection with who I was and what really mattered to me. When I began being kinder to me, my intuition showed me how to soothe and comfort my fears, doubts and insecurities from within. Once I re-developed this skill, I was able to recognize it was seeking comfort from someone else that usually activated my upset and cause it to linger. I let go of the need to explain myself and accept sometimes it was simply best to stop trying to explain and trust that others would come to their own understanding in their own time.

With the ability to soothe my own upset, I accepted more and more that I deserved the time and space to tend to me. I set myself up to process the emotions I had misunderstood for so long and when I came to something that felt insurmountable, I learned to write it down, tuck it away and trust that a solution would present itself to me.

It was standing in this awareness that I realized the unique set of skills I have been blessed with, to accept I am meant to touch specific people’s lives, to appreciate the opportunity to learn difficult lessons inside loving relationships with others, and to fully accept I am meant to be FREE TO BE ME.

Today I aim to allow those I love time when they need space to resolve an internal conflict and to allow myself the same. I choose to invest my time and energy on creating a world where, together with like-minded women, we let go of old limitations, embrace a new perspective, trust in a greater mind, and create the life experience we wish for.

Today, my “story” has and continues to become my new reality. I love being surrounded by women who are ready for a new personal experience with life!
